The Book of Eli – An Easy Read

From the comfortable distance of our armchairs, ever-so-slightly askew, one might presume to know the tale of The Book of Eli – another installment in the post-apocalypse, nuclear holocaust stricken world of the future where cannibalism, murder, and mayhem live in disharmonious proximity. Yet there is something different about Denzel Washington as the lone wayfarer who defies the elements and would-be marauders on a thirty year march through the desert and the dead that makes me want to like this movie. The Road That Leads Us

The Road is yet another installment in the doom-and-gloom movie franchise, a bleak and tedious wandering film that never settles long enough to establish a connection to the characters, much less the tissue-thin storyline. I’ve had my fill of post apocalyptic movies and The Road reinforces my sense of saturation of a genre that’s worn out its welcome. Continue reading

Toy Story 3 from past to present

Toy Story 3 delivers in customary Pixar fashion, a character centric story based tale with familiar themes and familiar archetypes. There is so little to criticize that it seems insignificant to mention. This is a must see for fans of the franchise and newbies alike – though it seems improbable that all but new-borns have missed one of Pixar’s eleven films since 1995. Continue reading
