Michael Bay puts the hero out front, frames them in red white and blue propagandistic good will against a backdrop of burning buildings, world peace and humanity – you can almost hear the music rise to a resounding crescendo of unanimous magnanimity. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011)

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 earns bragging rights as the highest midnight opening, weekend opening and global opening weekend film of all time – all time! There are surely other records, those yet counted and those yet to come but there’s plenty of time for counting and collecting receipts.
