Hi Kristy,

Thanks for reading. Please feel free to check out the original article I wrote about female directors http://rorydean.wordpress.com/2010/07/09/female-directors-redux/

Also, since you mentioned it I reviewed Brave here http://rorydean.wordpress.com/2013/02/23/brave-2012/

I think what happened in Brave was offensive.

“Sometimes women express an idea and are shot down, only to have a man express essentially the same idea and have it broadly embraced."

~Brenda Chapman on being replaced by a man (boy) on her film Brave. Stupid boys.

Not sure if this link will work - but here's my lovely commenting on the subject: https://www.facebook.com/7thwolf/posts/568987529780030

Hi Yost -
Always appreciate your point of view. I know we've discussed this idea before and I promise, one of these days I'm going to write an article about it. I keep thinking of movies like Total Recall (the remake) which you can find my review here http://rorydean.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/total-recall-2012/ I mean this is such an amazing film in so many ways, not to mention I found it to be a great remake because it didn't fall victim to what a lot of filmmakers do - that is to either stray too far from the original or somehow try and "fix it" or stick too close to the original without any real point to it (like Van Sant's remake of Psycho, for instance). You are on to something, the idea of video games and movies merging into a whole new kind of entertainment experience. Whether it goes to arcades of yester year or not, who knows. Thanks as always for visiting!
