- Argo (2012) April 6, 2013So "Argo" should be on your list of movies to watch if you've missed it up to now. Be advised that the thrills come in bite-fulls and the story is much more about an ensemble cast than any one particular player. This has double feature written all over it. Pick up a couple of other movies while you're at it and if all goes South in a hurr […]rorydean

- I Melt With You (2011) March 1, 2013“I Melt With You” feels like the mid-life rights of passage you've heard about or are living, the runway that many men land and take off from. Gathered for many drinks with the best friends of their lives quickly becomes a dangerous Bacchanalia of doomed ritualizing, darkly lit and disturbing yet familiar to anyone who has ever fallen off the beaten pat […]rorydean

Country Strong (2010)
Country Strong succeeds despite every reason that it bogs down with needing to be everything for everyone and only really touching those who long to see specific heroes on the screen; these happen to wear cowboy hats and trip up easily, people singing about living, loving and moving on. At the end of it all when the lights fade to black and the relationships are either healed or fractured further, when love changes a little or not at all, when the once faded shines one last time and innocence avoids the pitfall just this time, Country Strong is just that because. For Colored Girls (2010)
For Colored Girls is neither an ode to nor celebration of the original play and while it proclaims to, “paint an unforgettable portrait of what it means to be a woman of color in the modern world” it feels more like the convoluted outline to the important film it might have been. Continue reading

Jonah Hex (2010)
While Jonah Hex blends genres, incorporates animated sequences with live action to modest interest, it is clear from the onset that the end product, heavily and clumsily edited, is a shell of what it started out to be. Continue reading
Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010) Franchi$e
Resident Evil: Afterlife is a zombie infested, disaster stricken wasteland flick and for many is queen of the B-Movie turned A-movie cash cow, delivering on its promise to overwhelm your senses with action, gore, and zombie annihilation. Ad reads: one gun-toting heroine loner seeks lone survivors in biologically unstable neighborhood, rent negotiable. Continue reading
