- Argo (2012) April 6, 2013So "Argo" should be on your list of movies to watch if you've missed it up to now. Be advised that the thrills come in bite-fulls and the story is much more about an ensemble cast than any one particular player. This has double feature written all over it. Pick up a couple of other movies while you're at it and if all goes South in a hurr […]rorydean

- I Melt With You (2011) March 1, 2013“I Melt With You” feels like the mid-life rights of passage you've heard about or are living, the runway that many men land and take off from. Gathered for many drinks with the best friends of their lives quickly becomes a dangerous Bacchanalia of doomed ritualizing, darkly lit and disturbing yet familiar to anyone who has ever fallen off the beaten pat […]rorydean

The closest you come to learning anything comes from that tiny voice inside your head screaming at you to “GO FAST!”. So strap on the jet pack of whatever wheels can carry your imagination and escape the steering wheel or office cubicle before you get lost in the intersections of other people’s’ lives. My Son My Son What Have Ye Done (2009)
My Son My Son What Have Ye Done (2009) is based loosely on the actual story of a disturbed San Diego man though this fact is only a rough sketch for director and co-writer Werner Herzog who quickly resorts to improvisation, spontaneity, and wackiness to get inside the head of the main character. What starts like a story on the five o’clock news and perhaps the outline for a serious character study, soon becomes a quirky, perhaps myopic portrait of madness personified. Continue reading
The Runaways (2010)
In the case of The Runaways, most of us going in know at least a little about these real characters and their short lived rocket to stardom. We are able to fill in the blanks in the film for what the script, and first time director Floria Sigismondi, left out. Continue reading
